Tip Tuesday - Apple Maps - Sharing your ETA

Tip Tuesday this week we are looking at how to have Apple Maps automatically update your contacts of your ETA. Many of us are starting to travel to visit friends and family now that the lockdown restrictions in the UK are starting to ease. Did you know that you can set your Apple Maps to share your ETA with a friend or family member? So whether it is them you are travelling to, or if you want to keep someone updated on your journey you can share with them in real time your journey and an updates to your ETA - say for example you get stuck in traffic.

In Apple Maps set up the navigation to your destination.
Select share ETA at the bottom of the screen - if you don’t see this option click the ^ arrow on the right hand side of the banner which shows you your arrival, time and distance information.
You will have a option of your most recently used contacts appear or you can select contacts to opt for someone else - select the contact you want to share with.
This person will now receive a notification to say that you are sharing your journey information with them, if you have an arrival time change for any reason - lets say suck in traffic, your contact that you are sharing your journey with will be automatically updated.

For more information and ways to share your Apple Maps (i.e. through car play) click here for a great article with picture and video demos.

Happy travels!
